While gaming on a laptop is something that has taken off in a big way in recent years there remains the nagging concern that you're pretty much locked into what you've got. A concern Asus soon hopes to change.

With the introduction of the C90 Asus believes it can finally bring users the same flexibility which they gain from desktops since the machine can swap out not only the RAM and hard drive but also the CPU, GPU and optical drive. And all without voiding the warranty.

Of course this being a gamer friendly machine in the first place those upgrades shouldn't come for a while since the C90 is outfitted with a 15.4in WSXGA+ (1680 x 150) screen and can feature up to 3GB of DDR2 800MHz RAM, a 512MB GeForce 8600M GT PCI Express MXM graphics module, Core 2 Extreme X6800 (2.93GHz) processor (socket 775) and even a choice of HD DVD or Blu-ray drives.

Connectivity is also reasonably future proof with Draft N WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, eSATA, HDMI, Firewire, a trio of USB ports and an ExpressCard slot. A fingerprint reader and webcam are also built into the casing while the whole thing weighs just 3.1Kg.

Pricing for the C90 has yet to be revealed but with the official product page already up and running expect its highly flexible ways to be bending to your every whim very soon.
