We've seen companies offer similar things in the past but Toshiba looks set to bring laptop customisation into the mainstream.

It has launched 'Lapjacks', a website dedicated to creating high quality skins (themselves called 'Lapjacks') for laptop owners. Covers can be created by uploading photography or graphic designs to the site and specifying your Toshiba model. A print is then created onto an adhesive vinyl cover which is engineered to fit the exact dimensions of the laptop.

Toshiba says all skins are durable, re-useable and wipe clean. It also promises a finish which is residue free and contains no air bubbles. For those a little less creative, the Lapjacks site offers 1,000s of pre-existing high resolution images covering a wide range of topics from Animals to Abstract, Sports to Machinery.

Interestingly, while Toshiba is the driving force behind the site and its models are the first to be supported, the company promises to expand the service so skins can be produced to fit any laptop make or model. It will also soon introduce mobile phone lapjacks.

Laptop lapjacks based on pre-stocked imagery will set users back just £14.99 with customised designs roughly double that at £29.99. No word on any obscenity filters, so go test em out... ;)
