Yesterday you may have spotted that SanDisk finally brought SSD manufacturers mass market availability with its 32GB 2.5in SATA drive. Now Super Talent has brought an even wider range out directly for the public.

The new all SATA based line is offered in 1.8in (ultraportable laptop), 2.5in (laptop) and 3.5in (desktop) form factors and scales right the way from 16GB to 128GB. The breakdown of which is as follows: 1.8in in 16GB and 32GB; 2.5in in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB; 3.5in in 64GB and 128GB.

Like SanDisk, Super Talent also emphasises the ranges' power, performance and reliability benefits over conventional moving parts hard drives (HDD). In fact, Super Talent goes so far as to state users will see up to an 85 per cent power saving, though it didn't go into specific performance figures.

It didn't – sadly – go into pricing either but all the SSDs will be shipped to resellers in April meaning we'll finally be able to go online and buy our upgrades independent of a whole new machine. Bliss!

Super Talent will be heading to CeBIT this year too and since yours sincerely and our roving new staff writer, Andy Vandervell, jetting out to the Hannover halls of chaos last night (ooooh, the magic of the Internet) expect some shots of these babies in the wild in a bit and a smidgen of real world feedback.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a train to catch...
