I often use the phrase ‘beast’ to refer to a powerful laptop but rock’s latest also has size on its side…

As the photography above doesn’t give any sense of perspective I’ll just spell it out: t.w.e.n.t.y. i.n.c.h.e.s. That’s right, this is one beast.

Called the ‘Xtreme SL Pro’ it has an AMD Turion X2 TL-60 (2.0GHz) processor at its heart, 1GB of DDR2 667MHz RAM and 2x nVidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX 512MB graphics cards for some serious gaming oomph. There’s plenty of storage too with dual 100GB 7,200RPM hard drives (optional RAID) and a dual layer DVD writer along with WiFi and Bluetooth. As for that monstrous screen it has a WSXGA+ native resolution (1680 x 1050) so there’s loads of desktop real estate.

Though the Xtreme SL Pro isn’t available until December rock is taking pre-orders on its website /www.rockdirect.com/ now. A three year collect and return warranty comes as standard though the £2,499 (incl. VAT) price tag is in keeping with the monstrousness of it all.

If you’ve got the cash (and the bicep strength) I suggest you pick one up.
