Despite its appearance on the web towards the end of last week there was an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) imposed on the rock Pegasus T12. We like to keep our word though…

The NDA expired this morning and I can see why – if not understand – why some sites were unable to sit on it: this looks a quality machine for the mass market.

That the T12 is one of the first laptops to be released with Intel’s sparkling Core 2 Duo processor is cause enough for celebration but there is much more than that. Since, despite all this power, the T12 boasts a whopping battery life of seven hours 13 minutes (quoted from rock’s MobileMark 2002 productivity workload test result) due to a huge 10,000mAh extended battery. This figure is all the more remarkable too because there is a 15.4in WXGA widescreen display strapped to it.

Elsewhere up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM can be fitted and a range of hard drives from 80GB to 120GB are available while an 8x dual layer DVD writer and wireless g come as standard. Graphics are of the integrated variety but this shouldn’t be a deal breaker considering it comes in at just £749 ex VAT. A Celeron version of the T12 is also available for £649 ex VAT.

So if you want to hop cheaply on the Core 2 Duo bandwagon the Pegasus T12 looks to be a particularly viable option. It goes on sale today and, as they say, good things come to those who WAIT!
