It may be a case of the before the Lord Mayor’s show but if you want to get a hold of the most powerful laptop around ahead of Core 2 Duo’s monstrous launch check out this beast from perennial UK powerhouse rock.



Available within 48 hours, the company’s Xtreme CTX will be the first laptop in the UK to feature Intel’s new flagship Core Duo T2700 CPU. This processor runs at a speedy 2.33GHz sports a 667MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) and carries a hefty 2MB of cache.

Like any computer however a lappy is only as good as the components around it so enthusiasts will be chuffed to discover this 17in behemoth comes equipped with a 1080p capable WUXGA (1920 x 1200) X-Glass screen, 1GB of DDR2 667MHz RAM and a top of the line nVidia GeForce 7900GTX graphics card with 512MB of RAM. Things don’t stop there either with a 100GB 7,200RPM hard drive, 8x dual layer DVD rewriter, 802.11a/b/g wireless, gigabit LAN and Bluetooth.

Perhaps most impressively the Xtreme CTX T2700 edition comes in at just £1,761.33 including VAT. That’s a lot of dough in normal circumstances before for specs like this it is rather a good deal. As I said, the only fly in the ointment as far as this lappy goes is the impending arrival of Core 2 Duo, but that doesn’t mean you should overlook bargains in the mean time…
