Fujitsu Siemen's Ultra Thin 10 Hour Laptop

If you’ve got a good memory you’ll remember Fujitsu Siemens’ P7010 laptop which Lars reviewed last October. If you’ve got a really good memory you’ll remember it we liked it a lot too. The P7010 was the latest in a fine line of slim and light FS machines and its successor looks set to pick up were it left off.

The P7120, despite its relatively minor number jump, is a major step forward. It packs a 10.6in SXGA display, Centrino architecture, optical drive, finger print reader, card reader, three USB2.0 ports, FireWire, Ethernet, S-Video out and Bluetooth into its 24mm casing (50 per cent thinner than its predecessor). It also weighs just 1.38Kg making it 120g lighter than the P7010.

Lifting this notebook up even further from the crowd is Fujisu Siemens’ incredible battery life claims of up to 10 hours. We’ve seen these kind of boasts from other machines three times the size and though they normally MobileMark at around 5/6 hours if the P7120 can get anywhere near that it makes for a truly mobile office.

The downside in all of this is likely to be price. Fujitsu Siemens machines don’t come cheap and the company has yet to sink hearts by revealing how much it will cost. North of £1,500 seems a safe bet. There is no release date yet either, but if you’ve got the patience (pre-Christmas is likely) and the readies, the P7120 is sure to provide a sexy alternative to usual IBM and Sony masses.
