I much prefer to see new products than “updates”, but when the improvements are being made to a laptop as stunning as the Asus V6V I’m more than ready to forgive them.

The latest edition of the world’s thinnest 15in notebook (0.9in) features a delectable carbon fibre chassis, upgraded specs and a zero-dead pixel guarantee. Being superficial, the chassis is what really grabbed my attention, teasing off another few grams off the 2.4Kg weight and looking as sexy as Jessica Alba dancing with a lasso in Sin City (ok, good but nowhere near that good...)

From a technical point of view, the zero dead pixel guarantee is also eyebrow raising since the cost of replacing a whole machine because of just one tiny imperfection does not bear thinking about to most manufacturers. Hats off…

Finally, the specs see aumps to a Pentium M 1.86GHz processor and ATI Mobility Radeon X600 graphics card with 64MB of dedicated memory. DDR2 RAM can be expanded to 2GB, there’s integrated Bluetooth, wireless b/g and card reader, while the storage hungry amongst you can squash in a 100GB HDD.

Those currently drooling in a pool of their own saliva would do well to head straight over to your favourite e-traders since the V6V is in stores now. Prices start from £1,199 including VAT. On Your Marks… Get Set… GO!
