Seagate has announced that its new 100GB notebook hard disk will be used by Alienware in its high-end systems. Alienware has said that the 100GB Seagate Momentus 5400.2 will be the premium hard drive offered on both Alienware's Area-51m gaming notebook and its Sentia thin and light notebook.

Hard drive size is the one area where most laptops lag behind the average desktop system, so this high capacity drive is good news for those who like to like to load up their systems with games, or professionals such as video editors who want all the space they can get for their work - or indeed, both.

"Seagate's groundbreaking combination of a huge 100GB capacity and a fast 5,400rpm spin speed is exactly the kind of innovation that Alienware strives to deliver to consumers," said Brian Joyce, Director of Marketing for Alienware Corporation. "Powered by technology like Seagate's Momentus, which sets the benchmark for fast hard drives that are also reliable and energy efficient, Alienware's award-winning notebooks consistently match desktop PC performance."
