Just wondering how this compares to the wii-mote in terms of feel and precision? The controllers look a bit clunky at the moment but I expect that'll change as new models come out and its adopted into the mainstream. Certainly, very exciting - I can see this technology appearing in the next Wii (maybe).
I tried it. The differences are many, and major. The Wii-mote is really only a 1-D controller. So like hitting a tennis ball is a binary action, swing or not. No underspin, topspin, inside out forhand, etc.
With the SixSense controller and their racquetball demo, you can control the pace of the racquet face, angle of attack on the ball, spin, etc. I would imagine, though didn't try, the golf game demo where you can get control over the face of the club (slice, underspin, etc.) in addition to the smoothness of the swing, head acceleration, and so forth. Given a full on game development with suitable controller, I think it'll revolutionize many games, and not just sports and shooters. Add in a 'casual mode' for the Wii crowd and you have, IMHO, a real leap forward in gaming controls.
I tried it too and the guys said the controller was just a developer unit. The actual look and feel can be crafted by the first game co to pick it up -probably Sony or MSoft. I'm sure they'll make it cooler than Wii given their need to get back to the lead in the market.
Anyway, the controller is way better than Wii, it is unbelievably accurate and fast. I tried to fake it out several times but couldn't. Nice job to sixsense, I want it NOW :)
