the 9700 GT to replace the 8600 GT? i hope so, the 8600 GT was a disappointing excuse for a "mainstream performance" card. all i want is to play devil may cry 4 at decent settings...
I'd expect a replacement for the 8600M GT to be called the 9600M GT. I think what nVidia are doing here is replacing the previous 'high end' but also adding a new ultra high-end (for a laptop).
Their mid-range chips are having an interesting time with their reliability so they might be hanging on until they sort them out, or simply renaming to try and avoid association with them.
