iphone 3.0 is looking mighty compelling and if it does now have video then I will definitely be looking at it as my next phone. also theres a rumor of 802.11n on the next iphone which I'd love because of the increased range over b/g.
I had a thought the other day. I was pondering the new iPhone and was thinking that when it is released with video recording capabilities, what is stopping apple from being ahead of the game and give us HD recording? 480p? 720p? I think 1080p is highly doubtful. If the processing power is beefed up enough it could be very viable indeed!
I pondered alot more things but i do not have the time or the inclination to go into it.
Draft N, OLED screens and 3.2/5MP cameras have been rumoured (I suspect former on a new 'nano' model and 5MP on next upgrade) - I just do my best to try not to flood you guys with iPhone speculation overload, hence the combined stories here.
aparently code in the software supports the draft n chip from some supplier, i don't think there is a massive nead for the speed increase but I would greatly appreciate the range increase, also if all your wifi products are 802.11n then you can turn off the b/g part of your router and that should speed up things which I reckon apple may want to push for with every wifi thing they sell being draft n.
What i don't understand is why there's a chance that the previous models of the iphone will not support the video recording app. Jail broken iphones have been doing this almost the entire life of the iphone. Can anyone shed any light??
@acgs1: it might not be good enough with the current camera, but who knows with the new iPhone camera. Plus its not just the camera that makes a HD video, its the processing power. I'll just keep my fingers crossed anyway!
The Samsung Omnia can do 720p recording, so hopefully, Apple do the right thing! They put the camera on the phone originally for the sake of it as most phones have a camera, but i have a feeling that they have listened to the consumer and will be improving the camera, so hopefully they will not just put video recording but put HD video recording.
I understand that HD video may not be an option on the current iphone but standard def should be. I think customers would be happy with any form of video quality as long as it does it, after all most of the mobiles currently on the market don't record in anything amazing. The app available on the jail broken video recorder was the best but it beat alot of the competition. Maybe including these features would deter people from jailbreaking there phones in the first place.
Actually reading around the web, it does seem to give the impression video is heading to the iphone 3G as well as the new iphone. after all the screens leaked on this review are running on the iphone 3G! Apologies
I dont care too much now. If an apple touch screen netbook comes out this summer, i'll ditch my old fashioned dell and my be-loved iphone 3g to buy the touchbook. (p.s. wot a wonderful name, touchbook...) if only..
