Where do they say it'll be on the Tesco Mobile network? Surely it'll be on O2 and just sold through Tesco's new Mobile stores just like CPW sells it, same tariffs and prices etc.
D'oh, I assumed that was the typical TR mockup image. Hm, that does look like it'll actually be on Tesco Mobile, yet the details are very scarce. It'll be interesting to see how this one plays out.
is it even possible for O2 to block them doing what they want, surely tesco pays O2 a fee to use their network and they can then charge what they want to the coustomers inorder to make the profit they want, tesco and other MVNOs already undercut the networks they run on it begs the question what a rip off the actual proper network are and why (for pay and go) do people stay on the main networks
@Jay yep, your right, rip off world is there in major networks. I guess they have a vested interest, whilst Tesco et al can underwrite the costs of loss leading. I use a PAYG Tesco cheapo as a backup with a not worth nicking phone. The supermarkets sure sorted out petrol prices a few years back, maybe a new price war is in the offing....
"Tesco mobile. The high volume, low price supermarket runs a niche, but moderately successful virtual network on the back of... wait for it... the O2 network. "
A list of who runs on what networks and what sharing agreements exist or are coming into place would be cool, can't find one on the net, along with a load of 2g/3g maps for the different providers :-D (please)
