Now that iPhone OS v3.0 has fixed most of my complaints about the software, I was considering getting one. However - I can't wait that long to replace my crumbling SE T650i so I looked at the LG Arena. Unfortunately it is locked to Orange and I don't like buying sim-locked handsets.
If Apple improve the battery life and (possibly) increase the screen resolution it would be very nice indeed.
@lukealexander I'd take the former as a given and if not the resolution, an even higher quality screen on the replacement(s?). The Arena is a nice phone but I'm not its biggest fan. Given this should be a proper v3.0 device (the iPhone 3G was more v1.5) curiosity alone would have me wait.
i'm waiting to see if v3 is finally gonna be the one to get me to ditch winmo after 6 years. they've fixed pretty much all the software issues and now i want some sexy hardware. i don't think it's as good as everyone makes out but i'm just bored of MS doing nothing with winmo.
@ravmania - couldn't disagree more. The primary functionality of the iPhone OS is vastly superior to Windows Mobile, despite its soon to be rectified faults.
A better email interface, calendar integration, maps, stocks, third party applications, online music and podcasts store are all primary functionality to me and that's without even touching upon the iPod/multimedia integration which blows it and every other rival device currently on the market out of the water.
Don't get blind sided by MMS and copy and paste (despite their impending fixes), I'd rather the above were superior any day of the week.

I do half agree with you. The main thing that gets me about WinMo is that despite being out forever and the large userbase it's just ignored app wise. I mean not even a Facebook app. Everyone wants their apps on iPhone.
What I meant by functionality was that WinMo does more, if not necessarily in a slicker way. I just hate how Apple locks down things and limits what you can do with your phone. Not just copy/paste but also stuff like A2DP. If the iPhone was capable of these things from day one why couldn't they just enable it.
More than likely I'll be moving to the dark side come June.
@ravmania - so essentially your first comment "many times over in functionality" meant: "Not just copy/paste but also stuff like A2DP".
Personally I'd give up both for: "A better email interface, calendar integration, maps, stocks, third party applications, online music and podcasts store... and that's without even touching upon the iPod/multimedia integration which blows it and every other rival device currently on the market out of the water."
Lol! Was leaving out the long list and just giving an example. Could add things like GPS, turn by turn navigation, exchange, 3G, removable storage, multi tasking, tethering, no reliance on itunes, a rubbish camera, no office software....... I thought it'd get boring!
I know that most/all of these have either been taken care of or will be and hence my new found interest! I've (nearly) run out of drawbacks! I never had an issue with the slicknes and great UI and am excited about finally giving it a go.
And while I'll be happy to be able to sell my Nano, the video codec support is pathetic and I doubt that'll change. Doubly annoying considering it's just perfect for mobile video. Once again, Apple locking down things so you can't use your own phone as you want to. :D
@ravmania - that's fair (though Exchange support has been there since v2.0). Of those I suspect removable storage and iTunes ties (thus codec restrictions) will be there for the foreseeable future.
Turn-by-turn GPS comes with v3.0 as does tethering. The imminent new iPhone(s) will inevitably comes with better cameras and video recording (I'm guessing 5MP. Why? I just feel lucky!).
But still, if Apple doesn't live up to its part of the bargain there's always the Palm Pre ;)
