Despite this little teaser, I still cant help feeling disenchanted and somewhat letdown. Cast your minds back to 1983. I remember it as if it were yesterday, cough. Sat there clutching my Tomytronic 3d Planet Zeon I couldnt help but think "wow, if they can make something like this now, whats it gonna be like in 20 years?! Well its now 26 years and I still dont see any 3d/ vr trumping what was, an incredible game.
@Keldon - quick, patent that idea before Games Workshop/Wizards of the Coast bag it and clean up. I personally didn't take to Magic the Gathering/Pokemon etc but they would certainly be improved by this - imagine the glasses picking up a small barcode on each card, and not only animating the card but other stuff, eg you draw a '+1 magic squirrel', stack it on one of your other cards (overlapping or something) and suddenly the two characters or items interact and move between cards. Imagine the possibilities. Terrain based games like Carcassonne would totally evolve.
In response to Chocoa's comment: Augmented Reality isn't merely a marketing term. It's a very interesting concept that is far more practical than VR, because it still lets you see your surroundings while viewing computer-generated 3D objects.
