Until they can consistently deliver what others on the same network are achieving for a similar connection, i won't be wooed by this talk of more more more! Give me what i pay for and then i'll see if i need some more!

I believe it is currently 1.75Mb then it might be upgraded to 2.5Mb later is what is being said on some forums. Which will be good for VOIP / Webcams etc.

The AUP linked in the FAQ mainly only prohibits illegal things, but also warns about providing Internet Protocol Services (which would be... umm... anything using the Internet wouldn't it?) and says:

"An example of such adverse usage could be the consumption of a high proportion of the available upload bandwidth over a significant period of time."

They're certainly not going to like people using their full capacity and uploading half a terabyte in a month, and it does only say "unlimited downloads" on the product page. They're probably not going to like people download 15 terabytes either... even if it's all legal Linux ISOs (which are still legal on P2P BTW!) or encrypted P2P traffic (which can't in any way be identified by VM as copyright material that isn't legal for you to have). This service is going to attract the heaviest internet users and it probably won't last long with no limits at all on time/bandwidth/protocols.

@ilovethemonkeyhead so buy VM's 10Mb service. Or an 8+Mb from any of their competitors. 2Mb (even throttled down to 1Mb 10 hours out of every day if you use it a lot) is enough for basic usage including live streaming of most non-HD video and I like that I can get it in a very cheap package with basic TV and basic phone!

I don't understand - apart from P2P downloads is there any real use for this speed? Especially as the BBC iPlayer is available via the cable TV service they offer.

Given that VM is supposed to be sending letters to people downloading copyrighted P2P content, I feel that they've shot themselves in the foot a bit with this offering.
