The only problem from my POV with TomTom, is I've already bought the co-pilot, and I'm finding that does everything I want. btw. one of the comments from the co-pilot news said a major problem with the co-pilot is that it doesn't remember your route when you exit, just close the dialogs that appear when it opens and it's back were you left it, so it does remember.
If anyone buys this, please could you answer these questions - can you adjust the Tomtom voice instruction volume separately to music volume, and do you have any control of your music from with Tomtom, like being able to skip track?
I have Copilot and I can't stand it shouting instructions at me when I am listening to a podcast.
My iPhone is due soon so TomTom have timed their release nicely - for me at least! I would be most interested in a Western European version so may hold off a bit longer, however.
CoPilot looks great VFM but I have ended up only using TomTom on my Windows Mobile phone as I way prefer it to CoPilot 7, even though the latter was bundled with my phone.
Despite the fact I am already 'sold' on TomTom, I would appreciate a TR round up of all the iPhone satnav programs.
Does anyone have details of the difference between the UK+Eire and the Western Europe versions? On the face of it, 60 quid gives you the UK and Ireland only, whilst 80 quid appears to give you all of Western Europe (admittedly for a much larger installation). I'm tempted by the latter option mainly so I have it should I ever go driving over there.
I'd also be interested to know what version of the UK {or Europe} maps?
On the TomTom web site for their all in one units, they are doing a sale of 'Western & Central Europe v8.30' {2061MB} for £60 {a £15 discount} - a map sale is usually a sure fire sign with TomTom that new maps are imminent {so you almost immediately feel sh@fted :-o} and it would fit with the quarterly release {the version 8.30 maps came out mid May}.
They've missed the biggest trick, surely? Where's the live traffic feature using the iphone's data connection? No traffic, no purchase over co-pilot, which does the job just fine.
Please do a group test of the iphone navigation offerings (navigon, copilot live, igo and tomtom), it would be really good to get a clear idea of all of them, as they're pretty expensive as far as iphone apps go.
