This comes as no surprise to me. I went through three W910i handsets that did switched themselves off whenever they felt like, and they would get worse after a month or so. I finally managed to persuade the operator to switch me for a W595 which while dog slow has been far more reliable.
In my opinion Sony-Ericsson have some serious quality issues they need to address and I can't wait to be rid of them. It's a real shame as my old W810i was the best phone I've had and wish I'd kept it as a backup. In the mean time HTC beckons.
No surprise to me either Wedge. I have a Sony Ericsson phone, something like a K610 or similar. There is nothing wrong with it apart from not being used for about 3 months, however when trying to turn it on, a red light blinks, but the phone won't start. A phone repair shop said they had seen plenty of these. Nothing wrong with the phone, but just a failure to start it. They even did some sort of firmware flash on the phone that couldn't fix it.
Sony Ericsson used to be kings in the mobile arena ( I too still have a W810i). After using the interface on other phones, S.E, seems counter intuitive so I won't miss them if they go the way of the Motorola.
I used to be really happy with Sony Ericsson, but it seems someone forgot to actually put Satio through any kind of release test. My Satio is not affected by the BSoD issue that this article mentions, but it has plenty of other features that an Albanian test manager should be fired for not fixing before launch. For example, in the picture viewer, if you zoom in on a picture that has a different aspect ratio than the screen, the black "cutains" around the picture are retained; the music player doesn't keep the pace when playing wma files; the clock on the idle screen takes several seconds to update after you unlock the screen. And I could keep going...
Perhaps they should have allocated more resources for development and less for marketing...
Me too. I loved my w880i until one day it just started to switch off randomly (usually when it was left alone). I remember taking it into the vodafone store to get it repaired and the drone behind the counter trying to convince me that this was the first one they'd heard of doing this even though the only other person queing up for a phone repair had the same phone and exactly the same problem. I'm shocked that they still haven't got their act together. It's a shame as otherwise i really like their phones but it's no good having a phone that you have to check every five minutes just to make sure it's still switched on...
