The fine print states that the app works with older boxes "in some configurations", but is unsupported. This is a change from what they previously announced: that older boxes wouldn't work at all. For me (with a Slingbox Classic) it works just fine. I don't know what Sling were thinking excluding their early adopters. Hold on, yes, I do - they are looking to force an unnecessary hardware upgrade on us. They seem to have partly releneted - it works, but it's unsupported.
Limited support for older devices. Support only for WiFi - yes, very brutal charging £17.99 for the app. They should be following the lead of companies like Sonos and providing these apps for free. Such after sales support wins customers. Kudos Sonos, back of the class SlingPlayer.
My understanding is that the Windows Mobile and BlackBerry apps work over 3g. So they're charging 30 dollars for the same app but it only works on wi-fi? It should be free!
Could it be because of iTunes? Or is it just Apple being Apple?
