I'm sure Apple's real motive (rightly or wrongly) is that FLASH and SilverLight open the door for a stream content (e.g. Games and Apps) that bypass their testing/certification process and their App Store (chi-ching).
It's a similar argument from Apple on the Java front - but I hope they eventually give in to pressure, since both Java and Flash / SilverLight have many uses beyond gaming that appeal to mobile business users.
