BD Live always seemed like a bit of a gimmick to me, I still don't really see any use to it. On the few discs that I've used it on I really didn't feel there was any decent content there (only a few trailers and a bit of interactive content) and, although it was cool, I certainly wouldn't pay more for a player capable of using it. The other stuff is good though, I suppose, but why didn't they put it in the LX71 (BD 2.0 has been around for a while IIRC) especially if you a paying that much, if they were only to release an essentially similar player later?

£600 seems like a fair guess, i wish it was.

i think you will find £1700 is closer to the mark for the price of this machine.

Weeerl, it's not *that* much of an improvement over the LX71, so I'd hope it'll come down in price.

I'm with the smc, BD live is glorified dvd extras. Noone buys the disc for them and rarely bothers to take a look beyond deleted scenes. I just don't think they can justify to themselves spending lots of time making awesome online content for it.

I love films, I am a big fans of extras but I am with the rest of the boys here, BD Live has been tried and tested with our PS3 but it did nothing to impress, given its very slow loading. Rather have all extras ready at the outset on the disc. Messaging? What for? Most of us already use some kind of messenger with our computers. Trailers? Love them but what is the point of dowloading them when they can burn them on the actual discs (I though Blu-Rays were big enough to support all that information anyway) plus we also have our computers to download such trailers if need be.

We bought the LX71 and we're more than happy with it, BD Live or not. I personally believe the manufacturers and Blu-Ray people are trying to milk the cash cows now.
