I've already got a 400d with a bunch of lenses, but personally, I'd kill for a copy of CS4 for home. Shame staff can't enter (not that I'd win anyway)

Erf.. I already use Aperture and PS CS2, that's enough... I would have kept that picture for another competition.

*sigh* . Ah, heck, I hope people don't get too discouraged by this... Seeing the fantastically creative and inspired pictures those prizes prompted was quite a learning experience for would-be photographers (myself included).

Judging by the quality of the pictures (compared to what I get from my camera, admittedly) I suspect that most successful competition entries have already gone through good editing software.

Well to be fair most of the winning pics are also taken on good digital SLRs, so should we be giving a DSLR as a prize to someone who already has a DSLR?

While SanDisk have very kindly agreed to sponsor until further notice, Adobe and ATP will be sponsoring the competition for the next three months, and I'm open to sensible suggestions for future prize.

And Alan, I'm sure you're aware that both Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS4 are available for Mac OS X, and Adobe will provide either version as a prize.

Personally, I think that because there are so many photographers with various different pieces of equipment (e.g. some will have a compact camera and Photoshop CS3, some will have a top-end D-SLR but no extra lenses for it...etc.), I think it would be a much better idea to give away camera shop vouchers.

There are many photography outlets such as Jacobs or Jessops that may be willing to sponsor the competition, and then the winners can spend the vouchers on whatever camera equipment they choose.

This is just my idea though, and I'm sure the winners will appreciate any prize (who can complain about a free copy of Photoshop CS4?!)

It occurred to me what a great prize some kind of workshop(s) would be. I appreciate it might be difficult to setup, as many pro's that run such things probably wouldn't view a free day or two as a great deal for them, but then again you never know. I also appreciate that TR are essentially a technology site, but Cliff's excellent tutorials just go to show how much better use of the technology we can all make with a little extra knowledge...... A three week Antarctic cruise with a World class nature photographer..... You know that sort of thing :-)
