Just trying to draw the editors attention to the fact that in Firefox 3.5 with adblock plus that there is a space two items down on the latest news (as in it is further down the page than it should be). I am assuming this is an ad and personally, whilst I understand the site needs advertising, this is a step too far since this actually interferes with the sites usefulness, since when I load the page I can just see the title of the first news article. If the site is to interest someone so they don't navigate away from the page, surely it should be designed with the main reason people come here as its number 1 priority, which is to read both news and reviews, with ads being down the side. Personally it has been infuriating since I load this page two or three times a day and therefore usually don't even have to scroll.
@Andrew: I totally agree, I've a feeling TR are really starting to push the adverts too much on this site now, a shame really. Like you say, I do understand TR need to make some money from advertisement, but it's starting to get to a stage were this site should implement an epilepsy warning before entering. Google have managed all these years to implement advertsiement in there search engine without going over the top, that's why Google is bigger than Yahoo.
As an example, just this page I'm looking at now while submitting this comment,.
Top -> MSI Wind Advert
Left & Right & Bottom -> TR Shopping (how many do you need)
Right -> Euro Tunnel
Top Middle -> Misco
Apart from them been annoying, it's also eating my CPU, 10% CPU is way too much just to view a web page. And like you point out, any new potential visitors could be put off, I know I've often closed pages when it's just full of adverts.
I'm glad it's not just me who finds this new bit of advertising in the news section so annoying. As Andrew said, I completely understand that sites 'need' advertising but when it interferes this much with the end-user experience, i think it's gone too far. Please remove it!
