@Andy - with reports its budget and influence were potentially being scaled back I suspect that may well be a big factor!

Hmm would I cut my dinner spending or my 10.00pounds per month 12 months broadband contract? Difficult decision I might phone my broadband provider and ask them if they can reduce it to 5 pounds per month if I spend 50% less time on the internet ;)

Busy producing reports that do not appear to reflect market reality if TR's news article on Sony's latest figures is anything to go by.

Having said that I did just buy a PS3 and an iMac in the same weekend and am now busily trying to persuade my other half that dinner out for her birthday is a bad idea in light of the recession ;)

I wonder if other people do what I do - that is, sell my old gadgets on eBay or though local classifieds, to finance my new purchases. I've just sold my old speaker system to buy a new soundbar. Also, I check all the voucher/discount sites before making a purchase too.

It's not a long stretch in my mind that a new computer would outweigh this year's holiday. The holiday will just be memories, the computer will be years of entertainment and productivity.
