Hold on a minute. This can't be a true successor to the N810 because it has one crucial addition that the former model lacked - a SIM card. That makes this 'Internet Tablet' more of an oversized smartphone. Sounds great (if that floats your boat), except I'll bet it will be priced like an oversized smartphone, whereas the N810 can be had relatively cheaply. People looking for a replacement for their N810s will be left high and dry.

Guys, if you read the Mobile Review article the last N900 news article on TR linked to (wow word jumble...), and scroll down you'll see a photo with the back cover removed and the SIM card shown. Holding my Touch HD up to the screen to compare the size of the device to the size of the SIM card, it turns out that this N900 body is almost identically sized to the Touch HD, and by extension, the iPhone.
@JonHend - Nokia already did realize that, they just haven't been able to implement a capacitive touchscreen yet. They will have handsets with capacitive touchscreens by 2010.
@Gordon: Yep, I'm sure Nokia outwardly intend the N900 to be an evolution on the tablet theme, but it's still a complete departure from the N810. Perhaps this is Nokia's subtle way of discontinuing the N810 line... ;)
@ChaosDefinesOrder: Neither the Touch HD nor iPhone have physical keyboards. Even if the N900 has does have a similar footprint to either device, it will be a lot thicker and probably heavier.
@Chaos: Yep, fair enuff :) In fact, (if JonHend's dimensions are correct) this thing actually has a somewhat smaller footprint than the HTC Leo, albeit a lot thicker.
Both screen types have advantages and disadvantages. A huge part of Nokia's market is in China where handwriting recognition is important. Cap screens are awful at this.
with the multi media prowess why not say gud bye to the iphone, and the only reason bb is "practically" irreplaceable is the true push capability, but lets admit that design wise they're too "corporate" if not to say "average" and interface isnt that great either...so not for long "c u later" to blackberry for the always nokia great design, and this one i bet supports nokia messaging.... the only thing going against this monster is apps but since it's linux based and NOKIA, apps are gonna come thick and fast....
