I'm on my sixth HTC device in a row and I'm starting to get bored (yes I know it took me a while but each new piece of hardware was very shiny).
I don't think WinMo is anywhere near as bad as Gordon makes out and it does have a lot of good points but I just want something different now. I am loath to get an iPhone because of all the things it can't do that WinMo can but Android is tempting. Maybe my 7th HTC device will be the Magic.
Having owned a WM Phone I have to say it was the suckiest thing that ever sucked. Start Menu on a tiny screen such a bad UI. On a Blackberry Curve and have to say it is so much better than anything that I have owned or used.
Palm Pre will have to be something exceptional to regain their lost customers.
Android lured me away from WM6 with its shiny sliding anims and fancy touchscreen. After 3 or 4 months of constant usage, I spent a weekend with my HTC TytnII and found it to be less slow and fiddly than I remember. The bugs, rubbish camera and hollow promises of updates for Android on the G1 in the UK are underplayed. Google seem to have forgotten that this is a commercial product - we the public are less willing to forgive their quirky hodgepodge approach to development when we have a) paid money for it and b) depend on it daily. Examples: voice dialling nowhere to be seen for the UK version, and even the iPhone versions of Google apps are better. Android shows promise but wait for it to mature a bit, especially since WM6 can now sync contacts and calendar with Gmail.
