Really no surprises there in terms of this type of bundle.
More interestingly revealed here is the existence of a higher hard drive capacity. I'm sure this size hard drive will be sold separately aswell, but the question is will we see more realistic pricing placed upon it and the currently available hard drives? I know I would have bought one if they were priced more akin to the numerous third party hard drives already out there.
Yeah if they want people to actually buy any of their on demand full game downloads they HAVE to offer a large hard drive at a reasonable price. It's a no brainer. 2.5" hard drives are about £35-40 for 250GB. £50 the absolute max they should sell it for. The £90 they currently sell the 120GB drive for is unbelievable. That would make it more than half the cost of the entire console.
Because its a Game/Gamestation exclusive, you probably won't be able to buy it on its own as they'll only sell it as a bundle with lots of other crap. At least they can't fob you off with one of their crappy controllers...
Personally I am glad there is not a browser. I have a PC and a mobile for internet, I have seen the ps3 browser and I wouldnt use it unless I had no other choice and even then I wouldn't want to. Much prefer if consoles were consoles and exceled at providing that experience instead of trying to consolidate my gadgets into box of all trades.
Selling the 250gb hard drive isnt feasible because of the price of the smaller hard drives, you would be better off just buying a new console. Definetly a trick MS missed by not letting us upgrade our own hard drives.
The console looks sweet tho, think i may pick this one up depending on the price.
@kdot - fair enough if you don't want a browser, but it's still a bad decision on Microsoft's part. For most people, it's the easiest way to get youTube, Flickr, facebook, etc. on the main TV, if you want to show a few people something on the web, a youTube video maybe, would you rather have 4 people crowded around a laptop screen or to be able to view it directly on your nice 38" HD TV?
Also, the PS3 browser is surprisingly usable. It's certainly no alternative for browsing the web on a computer, but it's easy enough to use for short sessions...
"usuable... for short sessions" = pointless imo, if its not good enough to be a replacement its not really worth spending time and money on it. maybe its just me though, but I dont get the need to cram everything into a console, web browsing is barely bearable on my phone and only because touchscreen eases it all along, a controller or wiimote are steps backwards to me.
kdot: Useable for short sessions = pointless? The camera, GPS, web browser, media player, etc on most mobile phones are nowhere near good enough to be a replacement for their standalone counterparts. It doesn't make them pointless. The browser on the PS3 is perfectly useable; I found it particularly well suited to BBC iPlayer (which has now been incorporated in the main PS3 menu). Not everyone has their computer and their TV in the same room, not everyone wants to buy an extra computer to strap to the TV, or keep moving their laptop/desktop and messing around with cables.
