Is Microsoft against using the integrated graphics core with a dedicated graphics chip to obtain more performance(known as Geforce Boost by Nvidia and AMD/ATI's incarnation Hybrid CrossFireX) or switchable graphics, integrated for low power use and dedicated for more performance(known as Hybrid Power by Nvidia and PowerXpress by AMD/ATI)?
It wont' mean that Hybrid SLI won't work on Windows 7. I think it's better for Microsoft to not touch this. Already Vista doens't have drivers tied to the kernel anymore, so that if one crash/switch/install/remove a reboot is not needed. As Win7 is the same core technology as Vista this won't change. Not having Microsoft be a player inside, I think it will offer nVidia and ATI more flexibility, rather than being forced to use a Window system which could affect gaming and multimedia performance.
Well what people conviniently forget is how Nvidia card were partly instrumental in screwing up the curent generation of OSes and systems, thus its no surprise MS are not taking chances this time around with their new baby.
A aftermarket support would do just fine and MS will breathe easy knowing they arent dragging a dead limb into a new launch.
Of course since its MS folks will find ways to twist it into something negative and call them spoilsports.
I'd love the extra oomph, but honestly another three hours of heavy-usage protability on my 15.4" laptop would not go amiss. Everyone is moving forwards except the battery folks - wsup with dat huh? Wsup with dat?
