Yes, finally, more HD programs on Virgin! We may only have one HD channel, but at least we've got iPlayer HD content now - it may only be a small drop in the ocean compared to Sky's offerings, but it's a start.
Seems all right here in Grimsby, though I know that's not much comfort. Watched a bit of Jools Holland and, while it's not as good as the dedicated BBC HD channel, it was still a step above the normal on demand stuff from BBC iPlayer (on Virgin).
While there's no specific word on the quality available, it seems reasonable to assume Virgin Media is accessing the same 3.5Mbps H.264 encoded files as are available to the PC, Mac and Linux iPlayer client, and the BBC iPlayer website."
Virgin are using approximately 18Mb/s for their BBC iPlayer HD ofering. It is by far the best BBC iPlayer picture quality yet.
to be honest virgin are a waste of time i have never been happy with them. i have just purchased a new hd tv from www.digitaldirect.co.uk and they have offered me a sky hd box for £29. the hd package all in works out cheaper than virgin per month and it seems there is more hd content
