There's no 'slick new black UI' in Android 2.0 as far as I know. The interface did get some spit and polish, but nothing new and pretty much what we are used to from stock Android.
That said, this is still a very nice update. I hope they can keep up this pace of adding features and making improvements. If they do, Android will be the mobile OS to beat not too long from now. They still have much to do though.
Anyone know when the Motorola Droid/Tao will come to Europe? In a GSM friendly package of course.
Great to see things headed in the right direction. Some nice new features. Wish they'd pretty up some of the icons though. Not too keen on the stock Android look after getting used to Sense.
@Gordon: So is the Hero the best Android has to offer at the moment? I prefer the look of the Magic TBH and not fussed about Sense (Actually was going to recommend it to my brother, not for myself).
Definitely not a new black UI. It's just a set of tweaks to the existing one, rather like we had in Cupcake.
Not that I'm complaining, it looks slightly more refined. Now if only I had a phone that they're actually going to push this to. At the moment I'd count myself lucky to get Donut, as T-Mobile UK are saying there are no plans to push it to our G1s at the moment. Hopefully they're just waiting to see if the US rollout causes a mess...
Interesting Gordon? possibly a hands on with a motorola droid?! In any case, I would also advise DrDark to wait till and Android 2.0 phone comes out, it cant be that long!
@Gordon, Stelph: I can wait, not going to move any time soon. My brother can never make his mind up though, so probably the fewer choices, the better :P.
There's some speculation that SE are going to make the X3 official on November 3rd. Actually that wouldn't bother me too much, it's too large for my uses anyway...
apparently (and i dont know where this source of information came from - either forums or t-mobile employee) but I have heard that HTC may hold out on giving us the new update that the g1 got and hold out for 2.0 because it is supposed to drop near the end of the year, hopefully wont take too long for HTC to customise it and modaco to provide me with a custom rom ;)
Dont think t-mobile have released the latest hero android update? If they havent already would not want to hold my breath for when they will release 2.0 especially as the last update i had turned the touch screen from crappy and unresponsive to sonic OD'ing on Relentless, i.e. very fast ;)
