I agree. The thought of loosing personal 'control' of my apps and more worrying, my data is concerning to say the least. I do like to buy an app and own it. Isn't that the whole basis of consumerism?
But I suppose Google has to self justify its own version of the future somehow. I guess the technology will find its place amongst other current and future solutions.
@Jesper - theoretically your information is safer (and far more accessible to you) online behind Google's multi-billion dollar security than your AVG/Norton anti-virus in a world of phishing emails and dodgy downloads.
@Chocoa - Google Gears and offline access to these apps will be crucial to the whole process. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. It's certainly hugely ambitious.
