Well, Google sure knows how to make a splash.

I still can't imagine even exchanging MS Office for any online package, let alone my entire OS.

And how is my data supposed to be safe again? out there on Googles servers.

But then again, wont judge the idea before I see how it plays.

@Jesper.

I agree. The thought of loosing personal 'control' of my apps and more worrying, my data is concerning to say the least. I do like to buy an app and own it. Isn't that the whole basis of consumerism?

But I suppose Google has to self justify its own version of the future somehow. I guess the technology will find its place amongst other current and future solutions.

@Jesper - theoretically your information is safer (and far more accessible to you) online behind Google's multi-billion dollar security than your AVG/Norton anti-virus in a world of phishing emails and dodgy downloads.

@Chocoa - Google Gears and offline access to these apps will be crucial to the whole process. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. It's certainly hugely ambitious.
