What I'd really like to see is a web based Android Market where I could download the apps I wanted rather than just the ones that Orange say I can have.
I think microsoft are missing a trick by not having a marketplace for windows. I know they have this for their own stuff http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/ but copying the iphone marketplace would make sense. Apps could be checked for viruses, easier install, reviews etc. the current shareware scene is far to fragmented.
A web interface for Android marketplace would be great. Preferably with a login system which remembers your apps.
@Wegde
What do you mean by what Orange say you can have? The apps you can see in the Android Market should only be limited by your phone spec and/or Android version. E.g. the HTC Tatoo could not run all apps before because of it's low res screen which wasn't supported by all apps. Also a lot of new apps only support Android 1.6 which leaves out a lot of phones on 1.5. Orange don't have any control except maybe blocking certain traffic.
That 'crap' that has distributed over 1 billion apps, has created a revolutionary new method of software distributed and made a fortune for developers and apple?
Yip MS would be crazy to copy the idea, much better to stick with a 25 year old shareware model that fragments the market into a million tiny pieces.
Just because it's popular and making money doesn't mean it's not crap - if people want to waste their money on download apps for a phone they'll have for 12 months that's their own lookout - i'll be saving my money for beer and loose women thanks
