On a somewhat related note - Expansys seems to have started selling the Iphone 3G ("refurbished") unlocked- I can't see anyone else in the UK who are doing this yet- although the price seems pretty painful - £725 for 16gb or £630 for 8gb! No hassle with firmware updates to the unlocked handset sounds mighty tempting but that price will put off most I would of thought.
It's not the most reliable unlocking solution (but not many of them are for the iPhone) yet after some time I did get it to work with v0.94. Unfortunately this morning the dreaded "No Service" error came up and I spent all evening trying to fix it. I've finally got the latest (as of 3rd January) v0.95 to unlock my iPhone but it's a bit of a hassle with taking the SIM card out and in, and switching Flight mode on and off repeatedly. It's the casual rebooting of the phone that seems to make it most temperamental.
