That's great news, couldn't agree more: anything but IE. I think Firefox is the best when it comes to customization, but Opera is faster and has a smaller memory footprint (making for better overall system performance, especially when used over a longer time period).

i'd go as far to say the firefox memory problems are still very much there in FF3. example, on my laptop after browsing and downloading files i find using the thing just plain slow
Along with the crashing, compared to Google Chrome, it's not very fast. Unless you like customisations, there's no reason to use Firefox 3 over IE. I find them nearly just as fast as each other. Chrome leaves both eating dust.
Another big Opera fan, what can put a few off about Opera is its default starting style, but you really have got to try it, especially since its free. I've used Opera for over 6 years now and wouldn't turn back. It really has so many advantages over any other browser. Web browsing, irc client, torrent client, download manager, email client to name just a few things.
My parents wouldn't have found out about Firefox for themselves, but I installed it for them and they wouldn't go back to IE now that I helped them get used to it. People definitely need to push past the 'it's so different' obstacle which I think is the main problem hindering change.
