Why do almost all internet companies get bought up by US companies? I quite like the fact it is UK and Sweden. Here's hoping spotify will be different.
NO NO NO NO NO! Spotify is streamlined nice and easy to use and above all very good, facebook is bloated crappy and horrendous to use. Even with 20mbit cable it takes a life time to load anything and never works, if facebook buy it they might make it crappy!
I very much doubt that any union would be anything more than creating a Spotify app for facebook, rather than tampering with the stand alone application...to begin with at the very least.
Maybe Apple should buy Spotify? After all they have so much spare cash sitting around, and what about the saying ... "Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer" ;-)
Spotify are in the same boat as We7 and the other free streaming services. It's straightforward to get members when music is high quality, free and legal, but they've got to pay the labels for it. Whoever manages to sell ads between tracks to cover these cost the best will win the battle - the fact that facebook have loads of unsold advertising inventory might mean they're not the best partner for spotify...
