I hope all companies start to move toward standard connectors/storage. I think it should be a requirement of phones to have a 3.5mm jack, MicroSDHC card slot and a Micro-USB Connector.
About bloody time. They took long enough. This was one of the main reasons I stayed away from Sony Ericsson devices. I don't want to have to keep switching between two different memory card types. It's bad enough having about three different sizes for SD and SDHC.
@Richard - yep the PSP Go does stick with proprietary memory but the move is 'towards' SD and microSD not an immediate cut off. Certainly it is Sony Ericsson leading the way and I suspect, once it has completed the swap over, it will be very hard for Sony to carry the line alone for very long.
@Tony - yep, highly possible - there has been a lot of speculation. I mentioned it myself in passing with the Satio, Aino and Yari story (http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobile-phones/news/2009/05/29/Sony-Ericsson-Unveils-Satio--Aino---Yari-Handsets/p1).
The importance difference is this is the first time a Sony Ericsson senior representative has officially confirmed the news. Before this it was all purely conjecture.
It's about time. This is one of the big things that makes me hate sony - the need to continually push inferior technology so they can make an extra buck on lock in. I was never brand loyal to being with - Sony has made me anti-brand.
