i stopped following stephen fry yesterday. he tweets so much it just felt like spam in the end. drowned out everyone else's tweets. i have about 10 followers and to be honest i'm really not understanding all the twitter hype. everyone goes on about it being a resource and people answering their questions and helping them. that's all well and good when you stephen fry and a million people read your ramblings but for ordinary people your mainly limited to a few guys you know.
by the way Gordon, lol on the profile: aspired smartarse!!
I must say I haven't tried Twitter, but from your comments it should like getting stacks of facebook status updates. I love my friends, but I really don't give an arse what they are having for breakfast.
Oh and though Mr Fry's twitterings might be annoying his podcasts are really quite entertaining, witty, well thought out, insightful ( insert other long words that mean good). Plus they only arrive once every couple of months!
Twitter is frankly rubbish. Like most other social networking 'tools' all that is keeping most people tied in is the fear that they might miss out on something by not being involved.

How very outspoken of you Hugo! I like a good solid opinion, and agree...
I don't understand the point of any of these 'networking' sites. Apparently kids are now collecting friends on these sites like baseball cards (or garbage pale kids cards...if I remember rightly) and then they're getting bullied if they 'only' have 100 friends...
Talk about insecurity- a whole generation will grow up feeling pressured, paranoid and inadequate. And I thought I had it tough in my day, ah well, at least I had my 'Game And Match' Dual screen Donkey Kong to keep me busy :)
looking back i can't believe the game and watches used to keep me happy for hours but i did love them.
I tried Twitter because of the hype but will probaby abandon soon. Facebook is still great though for keeping in touch with friends, nosing around and checking some talent! If you keep it to actual friends it can be very useful.
Used to agree with Hugo on twitter. But I have buckled under the pressure and signed up. It's actually quite good, although not about to become a major part of my life this month.
