One hopes that if the road map mechanical drives took from the heady days of 20MB drives to now, that these beauties will be affordable,.... one day soon. In the meantime, it's Samsung F1 1TB series for me and my Home Cinema.

I know manufacturers have to 'make hay while the sun shines' with new tech but they do appear to be milking it with SSDs right now. There must be an enormous pent-up demand for these things once prices come down to realistic levels. Anyone releasing a decent 256Gb drive at an affordable price is going to clean up.

I was hoping they would be a bit more affordable by now :(

@basicasic: I think an affordable price is probably going to be sub-£100, and we'll be well into 2011, or possibly 2012, before we get that.
