Can I ask if anyone knows what the benefits are of having a 16:9 ratio display over, say, a 16:10 one? Most games now support 16:10 screens. Unless, of course, this is aimed at people who what to watch movies on their monitor but surely 22 inches is too small for this purpose?
16:9 is for movies, and for console playback (via HDMI in this case). So instead of 1920x1200 like all the 24" monitors are, they've trimmed 60 pixels off the top and bottom to produce 1920x1080.
I guess the theory is that Windows workers might not care about the lost space, and no more black bars during Blu-ray / Xbox sessions. As for PC-game support, well, as many developers are doing console AND PC these days, maybe we'll see 16:9 AND 16:10 modes on the PC ports. :)
i dont see black bar as a problem when im watching movie. saying 16:0 better than 16:9 is silly. why should pc monitor should be standardized to be the same as general consumer display product. 16:10 enabled you you to put a4 side by side without the need of scrolling up or down. this in my opinion differentiate the function of a pc monitor where you also use it for work versus television which is for entertainment purpose only.
the reason lcd maker want to switch to 16:9 format because it will be cheaper to produce. and they gonna use this 1080 hype to do it.

According to the BenQ product page it appears that the A designation removes the DVI and HDMI ports... probably best avoided for 1080p.
Also does anyone know if this is a TN or PVA panel? Both are described as being capable of displaying 16.7m colours but the panel technology isn't mentioned... it's possible that it's a TN panel using dithering for that figure, which is a deal breaker for me.
