Where does O2 fit into all this? I've always been under the impression they were linked to Be in some way.. It would be nice to know how all the other providers stack up.. otherwise good on you Be !! You may just have single handedly quadrupled your subscriber database in one short week....
@mrdoogso Good question. We're all waiting for O2 to come forward and make its position clear (as are many of us on ISPs not listed here) but I would assume - as the owner of Be - it will follow the same standpoint for now. Inconsistencies with business practices aren't looked upon kindly in a court ;)
I think the question is how long will they choose to stand their ground because ultimately they are affiliated with O2 and i dont feel O2 is the kind of company that will choose not to jump onboard the BPI ship when most of the big names in the business have decided to go along with a ridiculous system.
I don't see how these companies will be benefiting from this agreement although i feel their must be some kind of incentive.
At no point has it been said that any of the six ISPs that have signed up to the BPI scheme will be passing them any information. The BPI is passing the ISPs information, and then it is the ISPs themselves that are contacting their own customers. There has also been no mention of the ISPs doing this for anyone else except the BPI
Be, however (from their own press release), will send a customer a letter if ANY rights holder contact them about one of their customers (and won't send a letter if they get a court order). So how that is that much different from the BPI thing, I don't know

I'm a big fan of Trusted Reviews but i don't know what there position is with this item, It seems to me that they condone illegal file sharing whether mp3's or movies etc.
Now i'm not on the side of the BPI either and seem to think a new model needs to be setup for distributing music or movies preferably without the need for DRM.
In the end everything has to be paid for and at a fair price, it would be lovely to get everything for free but that won't happen
Have been a proud member of Be* for more than 2 years (May 2006). I went for it when trustedreviews.com first post the news about them. I think I was one of the first ones when my phone exchange went live for Be*, I was on waiting list for it go live on my area.
