Huh. With 1080p capabaility it sounds like this would be a great media player... had they only stuck HDMI (or DVI+VGA) on it instead of VGA. My Panasonic V10 TV - and I know this is true of other TVs too - will only accept 1080p through HDMI. Through VGA it is limited to the canonical resolutions of yesteryear: 800x600, 1024x768, etc.
Resistive have it's advantages... I can't imagine trying to use Windows with capacitive screens. Resistive is very accurate with any object. iPhone made all screen items big so you can hit them with your finger -:)
Capacitive is not great as some make out, mostly iPhone fanboys. I've used both of them extensively and each have + and -
@Almostdone: The point is, in a device like this, you're mainly 'consuming' media; watching, listening, reading. As such you don't really need the accuracy of a stylus like you would if you were creating media; using excel, editing video/images, etc. Therefore, with the sensitivity advantages and ability to have a super-tough glass screen, capacitive is by far and away the better choice.

@Ed: Look at TR's own review of the Dell laptop/tablet with the capacitive screen for a good reason why a portable device of this size designed for consumption of media would not be suited to a capacitive screen. Battery life will be/is much better for resistive screens when just sat there idling with screen on.
If this had a 3G sim slot built-in (not a USB dongle), HDMI out, capacitive screen and fewer bugs than most Archos products (and/or better support?), then I would buy this and probably pay over £500 for the priviledge. But it doesn't, so I won't.
The MID is back and now it means business. This might not be original, but I think now that prices are in this range and with the same power as a netbook I think a lot of people will be very interested. Now if only Archos had the advertising genius of a certain fruit, they'd sell these by the millions. They should be trying to get them into schools.
And please drop the tired old capacitive comments, this is not a tiny phone, resistive works much better for a Windows machine with a screen this size. Especially people who want to use it to draw or write on.
I have ordered one this morning, however I have e-mailed them asking the following :-
-Does this incldue the DVB tuner? I cannot find any information on your website relating to this.
-Can the RAM and HDD be upgraded by myself? (2GB RAM, however I assume this maybe soldered due to the mobo size and insert my own SSD, I have my own copy genuine of Windows 7 Ultimate).
-Does the purchase come with the leather protector case, otherwise I will not be able to carry it around safely? I also noticed the accesories page is not on your website at present.
I think you're missing the point on the HDMI output for this device. I know Archos are known for their "media" products but the truth is in the title. Its a PCTablet, surely this means that they want it to be used as more than just a personal media player. They want you to use it like a netbook. A netbook with VGA is far more useful than one with HDMI. It gives you the flexibility to plug this into a monitor, keyboard and mouse to use as a proper computer if you needed it. Nettop with HDMI is understandable as they are aimed at the home consumer market but a mobile device needs to appeal to people who may want to use it for work. One of the pictures in the article shows it being used with Word. Also, VGA is generally still the standard that almost everyone connects their computer to a monitor with.
