I don't want to rain on this parade (as it is a truly laudable enterprise) but much of the packaging of larger items is there to ensure they will survive shipping without damage. That Fisher-Price pirate ship looked fine there, but put in the back of a Royal Mail van with some clumsy oaf at the wheel and see how many bits break off during transit, and how many smooth surfaces get scuffed.
I really want this to work, but I hope Amazon have put in the required testing of the new packaging to make sure it performs properly.
Little Johnny wouldn't want Santa to deliver boxes that rattle like poisonous snakes and have all the joy and excitement as if one was trapped inside.
'Sign here.'
'But this box is damaged.'
'Well it ain't my fault, what do you want me to do about it?'
