ZombiU rises again this time as Zombi on PS4, Xbox One and PC

ZombiU, the zombie-themed action game for Wii U, is limping back to life as Zombi for Xbox One, PS4 and PC next month.

Ubisoft has announced that ZombiU – the Wii U zombie action game from Ubisoft Montpellier – will be revamped for new-gen consoles and PC.

It will launch on August 18 as the renamed Zombi, and will only be available as a digital download.

“The nail-biting experience has been optimised for PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One and Windows PC, usign the power of the latest generation of hardware to bring gamers to a new level of horror,” said Ubisoft.

Zombi won’t include the ZombiU multiplayer mode though, as it requires the Wii U gamepad. But otherwise the game will remain the same.

Ubisoft said Zombi mainly offers “small technical improvements onw hat was already there – faster load times, and the small changes to controls.”

“In fact, a lot of the time was spent getting the controls mapped as intuitively as possible, to keep the original atmosphere,” explained Ubisoft’s Helene Henry.

ZombiU was a Wii U launch title back in November 2012 and was well received by the industry and gamers alike.

Ubisoft later revealed, however, that the game was not profitable.
