This Zelda-themed IPA takes beer geekery to a whole new level
Few things on this earth pair better than beer and video games. Now, to commemorate this all-time classic combo, one US brewery has forged a new Link, so to speak.
The Atlanta-based Second Shelf Beer Company is currently serving up Triforce IPA, which pays homage to The Legend Of Zelda series in a way that’s unlikely to alarm Nintendo’s eagle-eyed IP lawyers.
The company writes: “Brewed to embody the sacred relic’s three pieces: power, courage and wisdom. Triforce is a slightly HAZY IPA brewed with the triforce of malts (oats, wheat and barley) and hops (Mosaic, Amarillo, and Cascade).
“These combine to create a unique IPA that has the hoppy aroma and flavor of papaya, mango, and other tropical fruits; with a soft, flavorful mouthfeel to balance this truly inspired beer.
“Suggested pairings for the beer include tacos, barbecue, fresh vegetables, ceviche, fromage blanc, and magical potions.”

As Nintendo-Life points out Breath of the Wild was the first game in the iconic franchise’s history to note alcohol consumption in its age rating.
It reads: “During the course of the game, a shop owner tells Link that she only serves “…drinks that are definitely just for adults…”; players can also encounter a drunken character that occasionally hiccups.”
I’ve just reached out to my TrustedReviews editors in the hope of being sent to Atlanta to conduct out an extensive Triforce IPA hands-on review.
Naturally, all tests will be conducted while propping up the bar playing Switch games.
