Fresh information concerning the forthcoming YouTube music subscription service has leaked, including its name: YouTube Music Key.
Back in April, we heard that the long-anticipated YouTube music subscription service had been delayed until its designers could “get it right.”
It seems those designers have finally got it right.
According to fresh information obtained by Android Police, the service will be called YouTube Music Key. At the same time, Google will rebrand its existing music subscription service, Google Play Music All Access, to Google Play Music Key.
As that suggests, Google Play Music Key will tie-in with the new video-focused service.
YouTube Music Key for its part will provide the kind of ad-free music, audio-only playback for background and mobile listening, and offline playback you’d expect from a music subscription service, along with a 20 million-strong music library. However, it will also provide access to concert footage, covers, and remixes of its official tracks.
All this will set you back $9.99 per month (with the usual 30 day free trial), which we can probably safely translate to £9.99 – just like the current Google Play Music All Access service. Indeed, subscribers of either service will apparently automatically get access to the other as well – a nice additional perk for existing All Access users.
There’s no news on when YouTube Music Key will launch, especially considering that Google is still said to be in negotiations with some content providers. However, given the volume of information and screenshots provided in this new report, it could well be soon.
