Google has given its YouTube app for Apple TV a much-needed paint job and refit.
The update, which is hitting the set-top box today, brings a brand new design, personalised recommendations and access to much more content.
The idea is to make is easier for viewers to access their favourite uploads, TV clips and video blog posts on the big screen.
The revamped app, explained in the video clip below, also boasts predictive search, while it’s now possible to subscribe, unsubscribe and watch trailers for channels. Basically, it’s the full web experience on the set-top box.
Elsewhere Apple also outed a minor update for its iOS 8 software in order to fix a flaw relating to ringtones.
iOS 8.1.2 is hitting compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models today and will help device owners get back ringtones purchased from the App Store if they’ve been deleted.
“This release includes bug fixes and addresses a problem where ringtones purchased through the iTunes Store may have been removed from your device,” Apple says. “To restore these ringtones, visit itunes.com/restore-tones from your iOS device.”
The update doesn’t appear to offer anything else, but you can check Settings > General > Software Update to download over Wi-Fi.
