You can now pre-order the Samsung Gear S3

Samsung launched the Gear S3 earlier this year at IFA, introducing its latest smartwatch in two versions: Classic and Frontier.

But until now, pricing and a release date have remained unconfirmed, with many expecting the device to launch before the end of September.

Now, online retailer Mobilefun has announced the Gear S3 is available to pre-order for £349, which is slightly more than we were expecting, but still less than the £369 Apple Watch 2.

You can preorder the Classic version here, and the more rugged Frontier option here.

The £349 price tag applies to both the Classic and Frontier versions of the wearable, with the site’s product pages saying stock is expected within the next two to three weeks.

And while Sammy has undercut rivals Apple with its latest smartwatch, we were hoping the Korean firm would keep things the same as the Gear S2 when it first launched, with a sub-£300 price tag.

Still, it’s nice to finally have some idea of when the watch will be launching, and there’s no doubt Samsung has managed to pack in some useful features on the new device.

With GPS, improvements to battery life, and a more functional rotary bezel, the Gear S3 looks like a worthy upgrade over the Gear S2.

We did find the bulk of the thing somewhat off-putting when we tried out the Gear S3 at IFA, but we’ll have more once we’ve managed to get a full review.
