Chinese firm Xiaomi unveiled its new Mi 6 flagship at a conference in Beijing this week, but it seems the company has more up its sleeve.
The phone is already an impressive offering, packing in high-end features at a dramatically lower price than than top-end handsets from Samsung and LG.
And now, it looks like the Mi 6 will be arriving in ‘Plus’ form, as a Mi 6 Plus has been spotted (via Playfuldroid) at a Chinese certification site, with model number MDE40.

Unfortunately, there’s not much in the way of details but it’s a good sign that Xiaomi plans to unveil the handset soon – though nothing is confirmed at this point.
Some purported ‘leaks’ have suggested we could see the Mi 6 Plus sporting a 5.7-inch Full HD display with a Snapdragon 835 processor.
That’s the same chip used in Samsung’s latest Galaxy S8, with Xiaomi also making use of Qualcomm’s latest processor in the standard Mi 6 model.
The Plus variant is also said to be loaded with 6GB RAM, and either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage – though, again, nothing’s confirmed at this point.

Elsewhere, The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 has popped up on a third-party online retailer’s site, and is listed as also making use of a Snapdragon 835 SoC.
Last year, Xiaomi debuted the Mi MIX with an almost full-face 1080p LCD display – showing off an edge-to-edge screen before any of the big 2017 phones from LG or Samsung had arrived with a similar design.
This year’s version of the Mi MIX is listed on the site as coming with a 6.4-inch QHD display, 19-megapixel rear camera, and a 13-megapixel front-facing shooter.
It’s also said to run Android 7.1 Nougat, though this is all unconfirmed at the moment, and the listed specs could well be either inaccurate or subject to change.
The Mi 6 will cost 2499 yuan for the base model in China, which works out to about £285/$365 – a real bargain when compared to the Galaxy S8’s starting price of £689.
Unfortunately, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to be a China-only phone, and it’s likely both the Mi 6 Plus (if it does arrive) and the Mi MIX 2 will also be limited to China.
Chinese analyst Pan JiuTing predicts the Mi6 Plus is expected to be announced in two months, so stay tuned to find out whether you’ll be able to pick up the Mi 6 Plus when and if it lands.
