Xbox Scorpio games and hardware already in production

Xbox Scorpio 1

The Xbox Scorpio release date was given a 'Holiday 2017' window at E3 2016, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed plenty of work is already underway for Microsoft's super-console.

Very little is known about the console outside of the hardware specs revealed during Microsoft's press conference – including an 8-core CPU and a whopping 6TFLOPS of power – but in terms of the games that will be coming and what the hardware will look like, much is still left to speculation.

Now, in response to a fan question on Twitter, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed work is underway on the hardware, games and the platform, which we presume to mean the operating system and user interface.

While initially Phil Spencer said that the Scorpio would not have exclusive games, this was later backtracked and he later confirmed it would be "up to developers" if they want to develop games exclusively for the new console. Also, all current Xbox One games will be upgraded on the Scorpio, much like PS4 games will get on the rumours PS4 Neo.

With quite a wait until the console launches, hopefully we can expect a bunch of teasers and a solid reveal event ahead of next Christmas.

This is good news man, i just got the Xbox One S but i will buy the Scorpio as well, I am an Xbox gamer after all.

Microsoft would be mad not to have Scorpio exclusive games, i for one wouldn't be happy that the same games that are on Xbox One and ps4 will be on the Scorpio only at higher resolutions.

I want better shaders, better frame-rates, better textures, better worlds, 4k is overrated in my opinion and 1080p 60fps is still the sweet spot and will be for quite some time, so i expect the 4k native output will depend on the devs and the game in question, so if a game is not that demanding it will run 4k 30/60fps, a game that is extremely demanding 1080p 60fps or 2k 30fps if you catch my drift, as always Phil is right it depends on the dev team is question and what they want for their game

personally gameplay, the world and the graphics in that world trumps resolution for me

oh and VOTE TRUMP 2016 ;)

'All Xbox one games will be upgraded on the Scorpio' - proof? Because Phil said existing ones will be the same. Only future games affected
