Xbox One Titanfall controller returns to retail with newly inflated price

With pre-orders having previously sold out, the Limited Edition Xbox One Titanfall controller has returned to retailers, albeit with a newly inflated price tag.

Having been formally unveiled earlier this year ahead of a launch that will coincide with next month’s Titanfall release date, the specially themed controlled was reported by a number of retailers earlier this week to have sold out.

“We saw a Titan-sized demand for the Limited Edition Xbox One pad and have now sold through our initial allocation online,” GAME Tweeted earlier this week.

Now, however, the retailer has announced new Xbox One Titanfall controller stocks are available for pre-order. There is one major catch though, the second phase of identical peripherals will cost £10 more than the originals.

With the retailer having charged £44.99 apiece for its initial allocation of Xbox One Titanfall controllers, the wireless input device has now been relisted with a £54.99 price tag.

Neither the retailer nor Microsoft have yet to offer up an explanation for the increased controller price.

Unveiling in mid-January, the wireless Xbox One Titanfall controller offers identical performance to the standard console peripherals, just with a new, colourful, game-orientated paint job.

“In a collaborative effort with the Xbox design team and the Respawn art department our goal was to create a controller that feels as if it is a piece of military spec hardware from the universe of Titanfall and into players hands,” Joel Emslie, Lead Artist at Respawn Entertainment said in unveiling the controller.

Microsoft added that the Titanfall controller “looks and feels like an artefact from the world of Titanfall.”
